After the BIOS menu displays, click or select the "Boot," "Boot Options" or other similarly named menu option. To access the BIOS, press "Delete," "F1" or "F2" on startup, and enter the system password if prompted. If the boot screen does not display a message prompting you to boot from the CD, you may need to reconfigure your BIOS boot settings before reinstalling Windows XP.Nevertheless, if you want to back up applications, save the setup or installation files only, and do not try to copy the entire installed application. You need not back up any programs on the computer unless they are ones you downloaded or others for which you don’t have installation media.
